apple earnings

Key Takeaways

  • Apple will release its fiscal fourth-quarter 2026 results on November 2 after the US market closes.
  • Wall Street expects revenue of approximately $113.4 billion and earnings of $1.98 to $1.99 per share.
  • Strong iPhone demand could lift quarterly iPhone revenue to around $56.4 billion.
  • The iPhone Duo launched after the quarter ended, making Apple’s holiday-quarter guidance more important than its initial sales contribution.
  • Apple’s valuation, at roughly 35 times forward earnings, leaves limited room for weak guidance or disappointing demand.

Apple is preparing to report fiscal fourth-quarter earnings with investors expecting another period of double-digit revenue growth, driven by resilient premium iPhone demand and continued expansion in Services.

The larger question for AAPL stock is whether those results, combined with the launch of Apple’s first foldable phone, can support a valuation that has climbed well above the broader technology sector.

Apple previously guided for total revenue growth of 9% to 11%, implying a range of approximately $111.7 billion to $113.7 billion. The company expects gross margin of 47% to 48%, partly supported by tariff refunds, while operating expenses are forecast between $19.1 billion and $19.4 billion.

iPhone Growth Remains the Main Earnings Driver

The iPhone will remain the most important factor in Apple’s quarterly performance.

Apple expects iPhone revenue to grow at a mid-teens rate despite foreign-exchange pressure and supply constraints. Visible Alpha estimates suggest that iPhone revenue could reach approximately $56.4 billion during the September quarter.

The forecast follows a strong fiscal third quarter in which iPhone sales increased 22% to $54.25 billion. Demand was concentrated in higher-priced Pro models, helping Apple generate total revenue of $109.4 billion and diluted earnings of $2.02 per share.

The fourth quarter included the opening sales period for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. Investors will watch whether new AI features, camera improvements and the A20 Pro processor encouraged another upgrade cycle, particularly among premium customers in the United States and China.

Supply availability could be just as important as demand. Apple warned that component constraints were becoming more significant across the iPhone, Mac and iPad businesses. Rising memory costs could also place pressure on hardware margins during fiscal 2027.

The iPhone Duo Will Matter More for Apple’s Guidance

Apple introduced the iPhone Duo on September 9 before releasing the device globally on October 23. The foldable phone features a 7.6-inch internal display, a 5.4-inch external screen and Apple’s A20 Pro processor.

However, the Duo will not contribute to Apple’s fiscal fourth-quarter results because the reporting period ended on September 26. Its initial sales will instead appear in the December quarter, making management’s holiday guidance the most closely watched part of the earnings release.

Analysts expect Apple to generate approximately $153 billion in total revenue during the holiday quarter, including $88.9 billion from the iPhone business.

The Duo’s $1,999 starting price could raise Apple’s average selling price even if shipment volumes remain relatively modest. Morningstar expects the device to be a premium, low-volume product that supports pricing-led iPhone growth rather than immediately becoming a mass-market category.

Investors will therefore focus on preorder trends, production capacity and whether Duo demand is coming from existing premium iPhone users or attracting customers from competing foldable devices.

Services and AI Could Support Apple’s Margins

Apple’s Services business offers another potential source of earnings strength.

Services revenue is expected to reach approximately $31.7 billion, supported by iCloud, Apple Pay, advertising and subscription products. The division carries a gross margin above 75%, compared with roughly 37% for Apple’s hardware products, making continued Services growth important as component costs rise.

Apple reported Services revenue of $30.74 billion in the previous quarter, up 12% year over year. Its installed base also reached a record across every major product category and geographic market.

Management may also provide updates on Siri AI and Apple Intelligence. Investors want evidence that Apple’s AI ecosystem can stimulate hardware upgrades, increase Services engagement and strengthen the company’s position as the primary platform for consumer AI.

Can Apple’s Earnings Justify AAPL’s Valuation?

AAPL stock has risen approximately 26.5% in 2026, lifting its market value above $5 trillion. Shares trade at roughly 35 times forward earnings, compared with about 19 times for the broader computer and technology sector.

That premium reflects expectations for sustained iPhone growth, expanding Services revenue and a successful entry into foldable smartphones. It also creates substantial downside risk if Apple’s holiday forecast fails to meet expectations.

A strong report would require more than an earnings beat. Investors will likely want mid-to-high-single-digit holiday revenue growth, healthy Duo demand and reassurance that supply constraints and memory inflation will not materially damage margins.

If Apple delivers those signals, the company’s premium valuation may remain defensible. If its holiday guidance disappoints, AAPL stock could face pressure even if fourth-quarter earnings exceed Wall Street forecasts.
