The gold rate in UAE today, August 26, 2026, moved lower during afternoon trading after beginning the day near recent highs. The benchmark price for 24-carat gold declined to AED 556.50 per gram, while 22-carat gold fell to AED 515.25. The retreat followed a strong monthly rally that had lifted local gold prices by almost 15% over the previous 30 days.
The following rates are quoted in UAE dirhams per gram. They were published by Gulf News and provided by the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group. The table excludes the unavailable evening quotation.
Gold Type | Morning | Afternoon | Yesterday |
|---|---|---|---|
24 Carat | AED 559.25 | AED 556.50 | AED 560.00 |
22 Carat | AED 517.75 | AED 515.25 | AED 518.50 |
21 Carat | AED 496.50 | AED 494.00 | AED 497.25 |
18 Carat | AED 425.50 | AED 423.50 | AED 426.25 |
14 Carat | AED 332.00 | AED 330.25 | AED 332.50 |
The afternoon price of 24K gold was AED 2.75 below its morning level and AED 3.50 below the previous day’s quotation. The widely purchased 22K rate fell AED 2.50 from the morning and AED 3.25 compared with yesterday.
A buyer purchasing 10 grams at the published afternoon benchmark would pay approximately AED 5,565 for 24K gold or AED 5,152.50 for 22K gold before making charges and other retailer-specific costs.
The local pullback reflected a pause in international bullion after gold recently reached a three-month high. Spot gold slipped approximately 0.2% to around $4,646.77 per ounce during Asian trading as the US dollar strengthened and Treasury yields edged higher.
Gold had attracted substantial safe-haven demand because of concerns surrounding US inflation, government finances, bond-market volatility and geopolitical uncertainty. However, rising yields can reduce bullion’s appeal because gold does not generate interest income.
Comex gold settled at $4,638.10 per ounce on August 25, down only 0.06%, ending a four-session winning streak. Despite that modest decline, the contract remained nearly 37% above its 52-week low, demonstrating the strength of the broader advance.
Investors are now awaiting Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s remarks at the Jackson Hole symposium and the upcoming US Personal Consumption Expenditures inflation report. A softer inflation reading or less hawkish policy signal could weaken yields and support gold. Persistently elevated inflation, by contrast, could reinforce expectations for restrictive interest rates and produce another short-term correction.
The table below shows the UAE’s published gold rates for the latest 30-day period. Figures are in AED per gram. The August 26 entry reflects the latest afternoon quotation available at publication.
