HSBC Future Forum 2026 is taking place in Dubai from October 20–22, putting international investment and the Middle East’s financial development on the agenda as policymakers and businesses assess opportunities across the region.
The three-day event at Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach brings together investors, corporate executives, regulators and financial institutions. Its programme covers capital movements, regulatory developments, technology and regional growth, with opportunities for participants to engage directly with policymakers and market representatives.
The opening day also marked HSBC’s 80th anniversary in the UAE, adding a milestone to discussions about the bank’s relationship with the country and its connections with international markets.
Alongside the forum, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s First Deputy Ruler and the UAE’s Minister of Finance, met HSBC Group Chief Executive Georges Elhedery on October 20.
Their discussions covered opportunities to expand cooperation in banking, finance and investment. They also addressed how partnerships with international financial institutions can support economic activity, trade and financial innovation.
The meeting placed particular emphasis on Dubai’s financial infrastructure and regulatory environment, as well as its ability to attract institutions, investment and skilled professionals.
These themes connect the forum’s international agenda with a practical local question: how Dubai can turn its position as a financial centre into further business activity and investment.
The leadership meeting also addressed the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, including its ambition to position the emirate among the world’s top four financial centres.
For businesses, the significance of that ambition extends beyond attracting additional bank offices. International expansion depends on access to financing, payment services, investment expertise and reliable financial infrastructure.
From an investor’s perspective, the forum offers an opportunity to assess how financial institutions view regional demand and where they see scope to expand. However, participation in an event does not itself establish that new capital commitments or commercial agreements have been secured.
Any subsequent announcements would need to be assessed on their size, implementation timetable and expected contribution to business performance.
Technology is another central theme, both in the forum programme and in the meeting between Dubai’s leadership and HSBC.
The October 20 discussions addressed digital transformation and artificial intelligence in banking, including their role in improving services and responding to changing customer needs.
The commercial implications will depend on execution. Investment in new systems may improve efficiency or support additional services, but its financial value depends on adoption, operating costs and measurable results.
Regulation is similarly relevant to the investment discussion. For institutions considering regional expansion, the ability to operate within clear supervisory requirements is an important part of evaluating a market.

As the forum continues through October 22, the most useful developments for market participants would be concrete announcements on business expansion, financing partnerships or investment commitments.
Details matter more than broad statements of intent. A new initiative becomes easier to evaluate when companies disclose its funding, scope, timing and commercial objectives.
For UAE-focused readers, the event brings together several important themes: international banking relationships, financial technology and Dubai’s efforts to attract global business. Its longer-term significance will depend on how those discussions translate into operating activity, investment and financial services growth.
