ADNOC Gas announced a five-year liquefied natural gas supply agreement with TotalEnergies on November 3, strengthening its commercial relationship with the French energy group.
The agreement covers a total of up to 1.6 million tonnes of LNG across the contract period. Initial deliveries are expected to begin in 2026.
The disclosed volume represents the entire five-year agreement, rather than an annual supply commitment. Neither company provided a detailed yearly delivery schedule.
For ADNOC Gas, the deal adds a multi-year customer commitment as the company develops its international LNG business. For TotalEnergies, it provides an additional source of supply for its global portfolio.
Multi-year supply agreements can help producers plan sales and coordinate deliveries over a longer period. However, the financial value depends on contract pricing, delivery obligations, operating costs and the volumes ultimately supplied.
The companies did not disclose the agreement’s value, pricing formula or expected profit contribution. The announcement therefore establishes a commercial commitment without providing enough information to calculate its effect on ADNOC Gas’s revenue or earnings.
It also does not establish a fixed annual supply rate. Deliveries could vary across the five-year term, making the eventual shipment schedule relevant to the timing of revenue recognition.
The transaction comes as ADNOC develops an integrated global LNG marketing and trading platform combining the LNG marketing activities of ADNOC Gas and XRG with ADNOC Trading’s capabilities.
The platform targets 47 million tonnes per year of marketable LNG beyond 2030. That figure is a future commercial portfolio target for the wider platform, rather than current ADNOC Gas production capacity or the volume covered by this agreement.
The distinction matters when assessing Abu Dhabi’s LNG ambitions. Production capacity, marketable supply and individual customer contracts measure different parts of the business and should be evaluated separately.
TotalEnergies described the agreement as an extension of its longstanding relationship with ADNOC Gas. Its management highlighted the UAE’s position between European and Asian markets as a benefit for its LNG portfolio.
For an international portfolio supplier, access to multiple supply sources may help manage delivery commitments and respond to changing demand. The commercial benefit still depends on shipping costs, contractual flexibility and market conditions.
The announcement did not identify specific destination markets for the contracted cargoes. It therefore should not be interpreted as a commitment to supply one particular country or region.
For investors following ADX-listed ADNOC Gas, the agreement provides evidence of continued commercial activity with an established international partner.
Further details on delivery volumes, pricing and operating performance would help clarify its financial importance. Broader LNG market conditions and the execution of the company’s expansion plans will also remain relevant.
The five-year agreement strengthens the customer relationship and supports international sales development. Its eventual contribution to shareholder returns will depend on contract economics and delivery performance, rather than the headline volume alone.
