gold rate in uae

Key Takeaways

  • The gold rate in UAE today remained at AED 497.25 per gram for 24K gold and AED 460.50 for 22K gold.
  • International spot gold slipped 0.4% to approximately $4,123 per ounce as rising energy costs, Treasury yields and Federal Reserve uncertainty limited demand.
  • Brent crude climbed above $110 as attacks on Saudi infrastructure renewed Middle East supply concerns.
  • Markets assign only about a 15% probability to an October Fed rate hike, but the possibility of another increase in December remains a risk for gold.
  • AED 500 remains the immediate psychological resistance level for 24K gold in the UAE.

The gold rate in UAE today, October 22, 2026, remained unchanged during morning trading as investors balanced safe-haven demand arising from the Middle East conflict against the risk that higher oil prices could keep global interest rates elevated.

The Dubai price of 24-carat gold held at AED 497.25 per gram, while 22-carat gold remained at AED 460.50. Internationally, spot gold moved closer to the important $4,100 support level as higher energy costs, Treasury yields and uncertainty surrounding the Federal Reserve’s next decision limited buying interest.

At the published benchmark, 10 grams of 24K gold would cost approximately AED 4,972.50. A similar quantity of 22K gold would cost AED 4,605, while 10 grams of 18K gold would cost AED 3,785.

These calculations exclude jewellery-making charges, retailer margins and any applicable taxes. Final shop prices can therefore differ from the benchmark rate.

International Gold Slips Toward $4,100

Spot gold declined approximately 0.4% to $4,123.25 per ounce during early Asian trading, bringing the metal closer to $4,100, an important short-term support level.

Higher Treasury yields and a firm US dollar continued to create resistance for bullion. Because gold does not provide interest income, its relative appeal can weaken when government bonds offer higher yields.

Nevertheless, geopolitical uncertainty is preventing a larger decline. Further escalation in the Middle East could increase demand for assets perceived as stores of value, particularly if attacks begin to materially affect energy production or regional trade.

The result is a conflicted market: interest-rate expectations are pressuring gold, while geopolitical risk is providing support.

Why Higher Oil Prices Are Not Automatically Bullish for Gold

Brent crude rose 1.1% to approximately $110.06 per barrel, while WTI gained 1% to $98.08 after fresh attacks raised concerns about Middle East supply disruptions. WSJ

Higher oil prices can affect gold in two opposing ways.

On the bullish side, expensive energy increases inflation risk and can encourage demand for gold as a hedge against the declining purchasing power of money. Conflict-driven oil rallies can also increase demand for safe-haven assets.

However, higher oil prices may also encourage central banks to keep interest rates elevated. If energy costs spread into transportation, manufacturing and consumer prices, policymakers may delay rate cuts or consider additional tightening.

That reaction can be bearish for gold because higher interest rates increase the opportunity cost of holding a non-yielding asset.

This second effect has recently dominated the market. Gold has struggled to benefit fully from Middle East tensions because investors are concerned that oil above $110 could prolong restrictive monetary policy in the United States and other major economies.

Federal Reserve Decision Keeps UAE Gold Buyers Cautious

The Federal Reserve will hold its next policy meeting on October 27–28. It raised the federal funds target range to 3.75%–4.00% in September, marking its first increase in three years.

Futures markets currently assign only about a 14.9% probability to another increase in October. That probability has fallen sharply from 57.5% a month earlier following cautious comments from several Fed officials.

A pause is therefore the market’s base case, but the policy statement and Chair Kevin Warsh’s press conference will remain important. Investors will look for signals about whether persistent inflation and high oil prices could produce another increase in December.

The main scenarios for gold are:

  • Dovish pause: Gold could strengthen if the Fed keeps rates unchanged and downplays the need for another increase.
  • Hawkish pause: Gold may remain under pressure if policymakers signal that a December rate hike is likely.
  • Unexpected October hike: A surprise increase could lift Treasury yields and the dollar, potentially pushing gold below $4,100.

Because the UAE dirham is pegged to the US dollar, changes in international dollar-denominated bullion prices normally pass directly into local gold rates.

The 24K rate has now remained at AED 497.25 for three consecutive days. It is AED 7 below the recent October 16 level of AED 504.25 but AED 4.50 above the October 14 low.

The pattern shows that UAE gold is consolidating around the AED 500 threshold rather than establishing a clear directional trend.

Should UAE Buyers Purchase Gold Now?

For jewellery buyers, the current price is below several recent October readings but is not the lowest level recorded this month. The October 14 rate of AED 492.75 for 24K gold was AED 4.50 cheaper per gram.

That difference would equal AED 45 on a 10-gram purchase before making charges. Buyers making large purchases may therefore benefit from comparing both benchmark rates and retailer fees instead of focusing exclusively on the daily gold price.

Short-term buyers should also consider the possibility of greater volatility around the Federal Reserve decision. A stronger dollar or hawkish policy message could produce a lower entry price, while a geopolitical escalation or dovish Fed signal could quickly push the 24K rate back above AED 500.

UAE Gold Price Outlook

AED 500 is the first major level to watch for 24K gold. A sustained move above it could open the way toward AED 504–505, followed by the recent higher range around AED 515–517.

On the downside, AED 493 is the nearest support area. A break below that level could bring AED 490 into focus, particularly if international gold falls decisively below $4,100 per ounce.

Market Scenario

Possible 24K UAE Gold Direction

Gold holds above $4,100 and Fed signals a pause

AED 497–502

Gold recovers above $4,160

AED 500–505

Gold breaks above $4,200

AED 505–510

Gold falls below $4,100

AED 490–495

Middle East conflict escalates sharply

Potential move above AED 505

The immediate direction of the gold rate in UAE today will depend on whether safe-haven demand can outweigh the pressure created by high oil prices, elevated Treasury yields and expectations of another US rate increase before the end of 2026.
