UAE Gold Recovers AED 11 From the Weekend Low

Although local prices are unchanged today, they have rebounded considerably from their weekend levels.

The 24K rate stood at AED 467 on November 1, meaning it has subsequently gained AED 11 per gram. The 22K rate has risen AED 10 from AED 432.50, while 18K gold has increased AED 8.25.

However, UAE gold remains below its October highs. The 24K rate is AED 27.50, or approximately 5.4%, below the October 11 peak of AED 505.50. Similarly, 22K gold is AED 25.50 below its monthly high of AED 468.

The recent decline may continue to attract jewellery buyers who postponed purchases when the 24K rate traded above AED 500.

Why Has XAU/USD Rebounded?

International gold rose more than 2% on Monday after suffering a 3.6% decline during the previous session.

Spot gold recovered from approximately $3,870 to around $3,950, while US gold futures ended a three-session losing streak. The rebound was supported by bargain buying, falling Treasury yields and a softer US dollar.

The strongest catalyst was a sharp decline in crude oil. Brent fell 7.6% to $104.77 per barrel after Iranian and Qatari officials continued talks aimed at reducing Middle East hostilities.

Lower oil prices can reduce headline inflation and weaken the argument for additional Federal Reserve tightening. That generally benefits gold because lower interest rates reduce the opportunity cost of holding a non-yielding asset.

US Midterm Elections Could Support Safe-Haven Demand

Investors are now watching the November 3 US midterm elections.

Prediction markets favour Democrats taking control of the House and give the party a substantial probability of winning the Senate. A result broadly matching those expectations may produce a limited reaction because much of it is already reflected in market prices.

An unexpected Republican sweep could push Treasury yields and the dollar higher if investors anticipate additional fiscal expansion. That would create renewed pressure on gold.

A delayed or contested result could instead increase political uncertainty and strengthen safe-haven demand. Gold may also benefit if a change in congressional control reduces expectations for deficit-expanding legislation and brings long-term yields lower.

Federal Reserve Risk Has Not Disappeared

Despite lower oil prices, expectations for another Federal Reserve rate increase remain a major obstacle to a stronger gold recovery.

Interest-rate markets indicate approximately a 75% probability of a quarter-point increase in December. Stronger-than-expected US manufacturing data have reinforced the view that the economy can withstand tighter monetary policy.

Investors will receive JOLTS job-openings data on November 3, followed by ADP employment and ISM Services figures on Wednesday.

The October nonfarm payrolls report will be released on Friday at 5:30 p.m. UAE time. Economists expect employment to increase by approximately 63,000, unemployment to remain at 4.2% and average hourly earnings to rise 0.3%.

Stronger employment and wage growth could raise bond yields and place renewed pressure on XAU/USD. Weaker readings could reduce December rate-hike expectations and help gold reclaim $4,000.

Key Gold Price Levels to Watch

XAU/USD faces immediate resistance between $3,970 and $3,982. A sustained move above that area could expose the psychological $4,000 level.

A break above $4,000 would improve the short-term technical outlook and bring the $4,075 to $4,085 region into focus. Gold remains in a broader corrective trend while trading below those levels.

Initial support is located around $3,920, followed by $3,885 to $3,900. A decline below $3,885 would increase the risk of another test of the $3,870 low, followed by $3,830 to $3,850.

For UAE buyers, a sustained XAU/USD recovery above $4,000 could push 24K gold back toward AED 485. A renewed decline below $3,900 could return the local benchmark toward approximately AED 470.

The near-term gold rate in UAE today will therefore depend on whether international bullion can build on its recovery as markets assess the US election result and employment data.
